Mooving the work along

Funny: There are a lot of cows out here and most of them are strays. Why are they stray? Probably because they escape at any chance they can. So was the case when we opened a gate and were confronted by a 900-pound cow charging full speed at the open gate. We decided to "moo"ve over rather than be looking like ground beef. When we told the farmer about it he told us that he didn't care because they always come back or he would just grab another one off the road.

Spiritual: One of the big focus points from Elder Pieper (who we will all see in the Saturday afternoon session of conference) was to find the elect. We took it to heart. By Friday we were feeling pretty well about our work but neither of us felt that we had found the elect for that day. We were praying like crazy and ended up working through our dinner hour (that happens a lot) and by 8:55 we were still feeling like we had not found the elect. Now you probably thinking, ah this is the part where they try one last trailer and they find a family of 5 ready to hear the Gospel. The truth is, that is exactly what happened! We found the elect after we had faced a trial of our faith.

Where I am at: The power companionship is staying together!!! We are very excited to be able to be here in Window Rock for another transfer. We are feeling invigorated and are excited for the upcoming challenges and miracles

Elder Pieper, Polish chickens, and exploding pans.

Funny: I had the great opportunity to be on exchanges in Sawmill. While there we were about to do a lot of service. One of the things we did was we helped an old man literally blow up his trash. Not just burn it but blow it up. We sent one can over 30 feet in the air. :)

Spiritual: this week was jammed pack with spiritual experiences. One of which happened while we were helping a woman feed her pigs and polish chickens (look them up, they are funny looking). She was talking about how she wanted her children to know that someone loved them no matter what. As we bore testimony to her about God's love I was really grateful that I have never had to have that fear that no one loves me. It wasn’t a very exciting experience, but it was one of many this week that made me so grateful that I have a loving Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ who won't give up on me even when I feel like giving up on myself.

Where I am at: Yes, I am emailing on Tuesday because we had Elder Pieper of the Seventy come down and we had a conference on Monday. It was really amazing. Life is really good down here in Window Rock and I hope that Elder Hunt and I get another transfer together. That would be the best!

So are you missionaries like 'fair'ies

Funny: At the fair we had a lot of people who wanted to tell us that our religion was wrong. Thankfully the Lord prepares for that. The booth across from us had a bunch of missionary moms, one of their sons had even served in this mission. They came over after each basher and gave us anti-bullying material and told us about how their mama bear was coming out against these people.

Spiritual: The miracles were pouring out on the fair. Every companionship walked away with many miracles. one that we had was on old man who needed some answers he had gone through a hard time this past little while and had a lot of questions. Though he wasn't in our area the opportunity we had to talk with him was profound. Truly even in the loudest part of the Navajo Nation Fair the still small voice of the Spirit can be heard to those who listen for an answer.

Where I am at: We had a great time at the fair! We are exhausted but invigorated. It re-kindled a fire in our zone and everyone is excited to go spread the Gospel. Overall it was a big success. We got several pages of referrals and lots of exposure. This next week should be a little less intense.. hopefully.

Thank you for all of your prayers. They have done marvelous things
Love ya'
Elder Black

Oh the places you'll go

Crazy: we asked one of the people we were teaching why he didn't come to church he told us that the reason he hadn't come to church was because he got shot! Satan goes to Extreme Measures to keep some people from church!

Spiritual: this week we had two baptisms! It was really a good experience lots of the ward members came and supported them. It was the biggest baptism I have been on my mission so far! It was fun to see those that were being baptized have those big smiles after they come out of the water. The Gospel brings so much joy!

Where I am at: this week was really busy we had a lot of meetings in Farmington, and Gallup so that meant a lot of driving for us. A lot of changes happened and are happening. And the madness doesn't end there this upcoming week we have the Navajo Nation Fair held in Window Rock and there's an estimated 100,000 people going to be there so we are bringing in all 21 Elders of the Zone throughout the week and then all together on Saturday it is going to be a crazy event it will be really fun!!
